I came across chooseaprize.com by referral. When you sign up with them you can accumulate points which you can exchange for days out, meals, etc. Over a period of 3 days, I have earned enough points for a free ticket to Europe.
Through chooseaprize, I signed up with My Comps and Simply Prizes.
My Comps scours the country for all available competitions then categorises them on their website which they update every Friday. You enter as many as you want to by post, e-mail and telephone. There are literally hundreds on their website.
Simply Prizes works on the same principal, but as well as email alerts they also send you a monthly competition catalogue through the post. There are also hundreds of comps in their catalogue.
The great thing about both of these are that they give you the answers to the questions for the competitions.
They do advise you to apply to up to 30 comps a week so you can consistently win things every week, but not all of them are postal. Instead of using envelopes they offer you the chance to buy pictorial postcards really cheaply that they say will catch the judges eye as they are really colourful!
I have been a subscriber for just over 3 weeks, I have concentrated on email and telephone competitions, and have won 2 theatre and dinner tickets, and a weeks trial at a top health club.
I have decided that I will keep going with this as it does not take up any time and any further prizes I win that I don't really want, I can earn some money by putting them on eBay to sell.
As yet I have not won anything big, but this is a good way to win prizes for things that maybe you could not afford.

2-10 – probably because the odds of getting something for nothing are virtually nil. They did offer a money-back guarantee BUT ONLY IF YOU WROTE BACK WITH DETAILS OF EVERY COMPETITION YOU HAD ENTERED.

Odds still stacked against winning a major prize - just because numerous competitions are entered your chance of wining are not greatly enhanced. I also suspect that 'professional entries' (easily spotted as not on official entry forms) are overlooked.
I found I was sending around 50 entries out each week - about GBP20 pounds worth (cost of printing, stationery & postage) & never won (apart from a token for a bag of crisps).

I have subscribed to the Personal & Finance monthly newsletter for a few years now at a cost of GBP59.00 per year. I have found it to be a good source of ideas on various subjects, especially health. For example, one article recommends a particular tea to combat the symptoms of Alzheimer's, another suggests common foods to avoid to reduce the risk of cancer. It also has valuable articles on personal growth and business ideas.

The mix of health and finance is an uneasy one. There are much better sources of financial information, typically dedicated financial web sites. The health infomormation tends to be a bit repetitive, and one gets the feeling the same articles are rotated every couple of years. The magazine throws a lot of "balls up in the air" which typically may lead the reader onto other opportunity based publishing companies such as Streetwise Marketing.
As to applying the principles, I've not really found an article which warranted much attention, as most of it is either common sense or irrelevant. There are occasionally useful articles on career-related psychology, but that's about it.
I wouldn't really recommend this magazine and I would advise would be subscribers to simply consult the internet for information on their families health or finance instead. I would say this magazine is targeted for twenty-something's.

The marketing blurb implies that this is full of money making tips to increase your personal wealth as well as general health, wellbeing and household tips. In fact in its first two issues it has recycled some of the tired old schemes and tips that have been around for years. So....... they didn't lie, it does have tips, but they're not new.

Reasonable magazine of health and finance tips.
Most of the articles are not particularly compelling or motivating enough to make you sit up and take action, in my opinion. I did read a good article on the mining company BHP Billition in 2006. The article, plus other material I had read elsewhere was enough for me to make a large investment in the company, which I did make some money from.
However, when the magazine came up for renewal, I cancelled my subscription. Something like moneyweek magazine seems to me a better source of financial ideas.
Another thing - your details will be used to mail a lot of money making junk mail to you - fine if your interesrted in that sort of thing, but it can get a bit tedious after a while.
