The Clevelander is described by Streetwise as the top tipster in the U.K. for the past 3 or 4 years, backed up by numerous letters from satisfied clients. You are given a number to contact before 1-00pm each day, you receive a premium bet to go as a straight win, possibly an Arbitrage bet with 2 or 3 runners and sometimes a Platignum bet. Recommended stake for the premium bet is GBP100-00, I can say that I was glad that I used a toe -in-the-water approach to this service as I would have lost a good deal more than I did if I had followed the advice given. I soon stopped putting any stake money on the tips and just kept a record of the progress of the tips. My conclusions from this are that either its a complete and utter scam or that the guy has lost all his contacts and information just prior to my joining.The only winners he had during the time I used the service were favourites or joint favourites.

Claimed to be in top 3 of tipsters for 10 years with profits of up to GBP24,000 for GBP100 stakes per annum. I joined in May 05 and have just about broken even so far. The arbitrage side was supposed to produce 92% winners, I reckon nearer 30%. The usual huge claims from Streetwise and very little in the way of results so far !!!

A bit unhappy. The blurb said I could make GBP15K to 25K per year, and so far (member since June 05, writing this in Sep 05) I have overall lost GBP885. Plus of course my initial purchase of GBP995. I missed 1 bet only during this time, and the bloody thing won (sods law). This would have made me a further GBP650. However, to make this amount on one bet is rare. Since I started, this is the only bet to have had such a high return. Other than the shortage of winners, my main concern is with the prices. The blurb showed horses winning at 16-1 etc, but thus far most of the Premier line bets (single horse bets) are Favourites with fairly short odds. The Arbitrage line (where you bet on two or three horses) sometimes comes up with the occasional 8-1, but mostly you struggle to return your investment, never mind making a profit.In fairness you are told to have a GBP2,000 betting bank, and I am prepared to wait a wee bit longer before throwing in the towel. I guess these guys can go through a bad patch!

The service was promoted in direct mail via Streetwise. The past track record of the owner was heavily recommended as someone who has a real insight into the horse racing industry and who regularly can pick a steady and profitable stream of winners. The reality of the hype has been a profound disappointment so far since I joined approx 5 weeks ago.There are three types of tip, the banker version being premier bet; then arbitrage which involves betting on up to three horses in the same race, one of whom is expected/hoped will win thus covering the stakes on the losing two; and thirdly a platinum line bet which is a fun bet.The premier bets have been poor so far and there has been a demonstrable lack of success across the board. I stopped putting down any real money a couple of weeks ago after hearing the tips and checking the form in the paper. For example, large field handicaps should seldom be considered for betting – it is a bookie’s paradise.I would like to think that this is a blip and that over a longer period the form begins to stabilise into a steady stream of winners say at a strike rate of 40% plus, which is not unreasonable to expect from a top tipping service as Streetwise trumpeted the opportunity. However I fear that the person has either lost interest and is either giving out any old tip or has seriously lost his way or his contacts if any or both. I would be interested to know what other readers think.So far extremely poor and in my opinion should not be sold in this way.

The greedy side got to me on this one I knew full well that I should have signed up for the RID (racing information database) to study results before departing with any cash.This was just too true to be true and what a disaster it was. I recall one bet that there will be no if buts or anything, this is guaranteed to win.I actually watched the race on tv and with only 5 horses running they must have been confident that this was going to win. I stupidly placed an extra bet and sure enough the horse pulled up , what a liberty. Yep I felt mugged alright.I even got txt msgs saying that their horse was going to win and that they own it would I back it ? Yeah of course I would ….. not. I had enough by this time and decided that it was a cheap lesson to learn.Although it wasn’t really a cheap lesson it was money I knew that I could afford to lose although I feel guilty I lost it.Greed is not good.Then the cheek of it they were offering the 2nd year membership for a knock down fee, I couldn’t believe it.Most of the bets were favourites at short odds, any muggings could have done this and produced similar results.I finally got a letter through saying for their disappointments that I would receive 3 free bets, I thought about it if its worth it but I just couldn’t bring it to myself to be double mugged.I’d be interested if anyone else did take up this offer and see what happened.

I have been a member of this system, or whatever you may like to call it, since May 2005, and in that time I can only remember winning a few times. In all I think I have lost quite a considerable amount on his horses. I have expressed my feelings to Streetwise Marketing but to no avail. Best gamble was today, 17/08/05, 4.10 at York. He told me that the bet was King Johannes – do not get it mixed up with another horse called Johannes…go on, guess which horse won….

I joined in June 05 and have so far lost money. One particular bet was given as this horse will win, reiterated several times; I lost GBP500-00 on this one alone. I cannot see how he can possibly claim a 42% success rate.

This all sounded TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE and so it has turned out to be in my opinion.I have worked the system since the end of June and in two months have lost GBP1,106 and only had any winnings on 15 out of 62 days betting. I have placed my bets with Coral and so have full and comprehensive records.
